The properties of all ceramic materials including tea pots are dictated by the types of atoms present, the types of bonding between the atoms, and the way the atoms are packed together. This is known as the atomic scale structure. Most tea pots are made up of two or more elements called a compound. For example, alumina (Al2O3) is a compound made up of aluminum atoms and oxygen atoms.
The atoms in teapots are held together by a chemical bond. The two most common chemical bonds for ceramic materials are covalent and ionic. For metals, the chemical bond is called the metallic bond. The bonding of atoms together is much stronger in covalent and ionic bonding than in metallic.
Due to the wide range of properties that tea pots have, the general characteristics that most have are, they are beautiful, delicate but yet strong, unique, pours out what is put into it, they are hard, wear resistant, brittle, refractory, thermal insulators, nonmagnetic, oxidation resistant, and chemically stable.
Otherwise a teapot infuser is usually set into a pot of tea and often comes with a chain attached to easily remove the tea strainer when your tea has finished brewing. Some infusers are inserts that hang from the lip of the teapot, allowing the loose tea to be submerged in the tea pot for brewing. The benefits of a teapot infuser or tea strainer are the multiple brews one can get from the loose leaf. Loose tea is often expensive to buy than tea bugs but it actually costs you less to brew a cup of delicious tea. Of course loose tea is preferred by most tea drinkers over a tea bag any time.
